Abhaypuri College is one of the oldest and premier colleges of lower of Assam established in the year 1955. The Central Library of the college was also established in the same year. It began its function with a humble beginning in initial stage with few collections of books.
At the initial stage the Library’s chief source of books came in the form of books by renowned academicians and Alumni of the college. Later some grants from UGC provided an increase in the number of books. The State Govt. too extended its help in the form of grant for digital classroom and Digital Library. In the year 2017 the Central Library was highly benefitted by the RUSA Grant. A complete renovation and up gradation of the central library along with digitalization work of the library. More books with branded racks enhanced the utility of the Library
At present the Central Library has a well- stacked collection of about 30,345 books, including Text books and Reference books. The Central Library has a good number of Periodicals (Journals and Magazines) of Local, National and International repute and a wide range of regional and national newspapers serving the users in the college. The Library is providing various services to its users and trying to expand the wings of its services.
The Central Library follows Open Access System reducing the barriers between the books and readers. The Central Library is automated using SOUL 2.0 (Integrated Library Management Software-ILMS) developed by the INFLIBNET. The users can search the Library Catalogue (OPAC) by Author's name, title, subject, and keywords available on the campus LAN.
